More Fun with Damon
It may have been the last segment. It may have only been 20 minutes (including commercials) but the topic is still germane to the experience we own as Giants fans.
What does it mean to be a Giants fan? It’s a good question with no single answer. But I will say this, a fan (short for fanatic) is going to do more than just watch and enjoy the event at hand. A spectator or even enthusiast perhaps, but a fan will give something to the game.
Whereas orange is not a very flattering color for many people, myself included, it is just a small gift to leave at the alter. A widows mite, a greater gift to the players we cheer than the club that owns them. To really own your fanaticism you must sacrifice something. To own yourself and your destiny you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone. You must be willing to offer something to the gods of baseball if you want to witness magic, if you wish to catch lightning in a bottle.
And that my friends is the message for this away stretch. Watch, cheer, and broadcast your support this next two weeks, and consider what you are willing to give to see a miracle at China Basin.
